This is an image of the Dome of the Rock, a Muslim shrine in the Old City of Jerusalem. It is built on the Temple Mount and is considered the site of the biblical temple of Solomon, which was built by King Solomon in 960 BCE. The Dome is a major pilgrimage site for Muslims, who believe that it marks the spot from which the Prophet Mohammed ascended to heaven. It is also considered one of the holiest sites in Islam, and is the site of the Foundation Stone, a rock believed to be the location from which the Prophet ascended to heaven. The Dome of the Rock was constructed in the late seventh century CE by the Umayyad Caliph, Abd al Malik, as part of a larger complex of buildings on the Temple Mount.
